MARTA DEL GRANDI
Friday, November 15 – 11:00 PM, Borgo Santa Brigida, Parma
Born in Italy, Marta Del Grandi is a true cosmopolitan. She has spent parts of her life in Nepal, Belgium, China, and India.
Far from the norms of Italian singer-songwriters, her background stems from jazz vocals at the Milan Conservatory.
Quickly noticed by a London label, she has released two albums.
Her first, “Until We Fossilize”, is a reflection of her nomadic life experiences, blending acoustic and electronic elements. The unifying thread is a contemporary and experimental folk sound, enriched by post-rock influences.
For her second album, released in 2023, Marta Del Grandi, who sings in English by choice, opted for an Italian title: “Selva”.
As she explains, “It’s a word with strong literary significance, a topos, an archetypal place, a setting for myths and fairy tales, where it’s easy to get lost.”
In this work, she tackles themes such as the end of the world, love, the intangible, and the elusive.
An artist who makes grace her defining characteristic.
